PRICEMINISTER: SAVVY SHOPPERS BRING SUBSTANTIAL UK GROWTH TO ONLINE RETAILER
PriceMinister hit British shores in February 2009 and is already making waves in the world of UK online retailing. With the offer of safer trading for individuals and professionals, and a fierce stance against fake goods, it has compelling advantages compared to the previously indomitable e-commerce royalty of eBay and Amazon. It also brings to the table 23 million monthly visitors, 127 million discounted products, 10 million existing members, and an impressive place in the top 10 European e-commerce websites.
However, despite global recession and diminished consumer spending, PriceMinister has seen the number of unique visitors since its UK launch grow by 1100%.
But what sets it apart from the rest? PriceMinister is the first website to bring together individuals and professionals who sell and buy new, used or collectable products at fixed prices. However, unlike internet auctions sites, it also acts as a trusted third party between buyers and sellers, guaranteeing that transactions are carried out quickly and securely, that the seller is paid, and that the buyer is refunded in the case of undelivered, damaged or defective products. In addition, and critically to today’s price-conscious shoppers, the site offers the largest selection of DVDs, CDs, books, video games, fashion and high tech products in Europe at the lowest prices. It has everything from clothes to desktops.
Launched in France in 2001, and employing over 200 people, PriceMinister is one of the main European online marketplaces. It ranks second in France, and also operates rapidly growing operations in Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. Founded by Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet, Pierre Krings, Justin Ziegler, Nathalie Gaveau, and Olivier Mathiot, it has seen three-digit growth since the business started, and is aiming to be in the top five UK sites by the end of 2010.
PriceMinister offers sellers certainty and simplicity. They can search for the product they want to sell by entering its barcode or using the search engine provided. A seller can then create a listing and set a price. Listing an item is free of charge, with no time limits or quantity restrictions. There are options to ‘Open a Shop’ and commission is not added until payment has been received. And when an order is placed, PriceMinister collects the money so that payment is assured once the transaction is finalised.
For professional sellers on the site, PriceMinister has additional benefits such as a commercial adviser, personal management tools and financial accounting reports.
With sellers advised to set their sale price at 50% of the original recommended retail price, there are many bargains available to shoppers; all accessed through a straight-forward search engine or a handy search by product category. Plus PriceMinister has been created in a way which makes any kind of fraud almost impossible and the majority of problems normally associated with online transactions between individuals are naturally avoided. PriceMinister guarantees delivery and ensures the item's quality, giving shoppers a level of security unequaled by any other e-commerce business.
End.
