Tualatin Studio Tour Brings Art and Business Together
Busiest Art Shopping Days of the Year in Tualatin
Tualatin, OR - The first annual Tualatin Studio Tour is partnering more than fourteen local artists with local businesses. Art for purchase will be on display at select business locations and in the artists’ studios. The Tualatin Studio Tour takes place on November 28th, 29th and 30th, from 10-5 PM each day. This is an opportunity to obtain beautiful, locally created artwork and help support the community.
The driving force behind the Tualatin Studio Tour is Patrice Demmon, an artist for over 30 years, who recently relocated to Oregon after many years in New Mexico. Demmon has long been an advocate of making art more accessible and is also a member of the Tualatin Arts Advisory Committee.
"Over the years I have been involved in similar tours in New Mexico. I felt that Tualatin artists were deserving of recognition and a studio tour would be the perfect opportunity for our local artists to become better known. The tour will get art into the hands of people who truly appreciate it and those just starting to build their collections,” said Demmon.
Key stops on the Tour are WineStyles of Tualatin, the Tualatin-Durham Senior Center, and the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce. The art studios of Patrice Demmon and Hamish Corstorphine, Deb Steele, and Marta Farris will also be open to the public. Maps will be available online and at the different Tour stops.
Linda Moholt, CEO of the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce explained, “Artists are an integral part of the business community in Tualatin. We definitely recognize the worth of local artists to a strong economy and are very happy to be co-sponsoring the Tualatin Studio Tour.”
The participating artists are: Cheeyan Packer – acrylic and watercolor; Marta Farris – metal garden art; Patrice Demmon – painting and mixed media; Anna Marie Lancaster – paintings; Mark Feeny – paintings; Barbara Sparks-Shively – stained glass; Deb Steele – fine silver artisan jewelry; Paula Stewart – weaving; Hamish Corstorphine – metal sculpture; Steve Farris – metal sculpture; Jennifer Cox – watercolor; Roger Tuck – wood; Ruth Ann Wilson - watercolor; the Tualatin Quilters; and members of Tualatin High School.
