Skeptics Guide to the Universe host, Steve Novella, outlines a protocol for determining whether psychic mediums are real, or using “cold readings” techniques.

Del Mar, CA, June 03, 2008 -- Join Alex Tsakiris for a discussion with Dr. Steven Novella and the team at the Skeptics Guide to the Universe on their upcoming psychic medium demonstration. During the hour-long discussion Novella explains his position on the psychic medium phenomena:

“… certainly our starting point, our starting hypothesis, is that there is no paranormal psychic phenomenon going on here… the whole point of designing a protocol is that the bias should be rendered irrelevant… and the protocol has to be at least tight enough that we can rule out what our hypotheses…which is that mediums produce the results that they do through cold readings.”

Novella and Tsakiris also discuss the particulars of their upcoming demonstration of psychic medium effects, and their plans to broadcast the results of their experiment.
