Do you own a Sigma lens? Markham, ON-based distribution company Gentec International has launched a photo contest that will afford Sigma lens overs the chance to win Sigma product prize packages.

The Sigma Canadian Winter Dreams photo contest, which will run from November 1, 2007 to February 28, 2008, requires that entrants capture scenes of the Canadian winter, as seen through their Sigma lenses. The Grand Prize winner will receive tons of goodies, including a Sigma SD14 digital SLR camera, 17-70mm DC lens, 70-200mm EX DG lens, and EF500DG Super flash; a Roots RP107 DSLR system backpack; 2GB memory card; a pair of Sigma UV digital filters, and a Sony Rapid Charger with four AA rechargeable batteries. The total retail value of this package is $3,900.

The first runner up will receive a Sigma 50-500mm EX DG lens worth $1,349.99; the second runner up a Sigma 50-150mm EX DC lens valued at $899.99; and the third runner up a Sigma 70mm EX DG Macro lens ($599.99). The first 500 faithful Sigma supports to submit an entry will each receive an Optex LP1 LensPen lens cleaning system, valued at $14.99.

The contest will be judged by freelance photographer and writer Peter Burian (who is also a regular contributor to Marketnews and its sister publication, here’s how! ); and Ottawa, ON-based photographer Crombie McNeil.

“The goal of the Sigma Canadian Winter Dreams photo contest is to build brand awareness and support the Sigma dealer network in Canada, and to showcase the exceptional performance and value that Sigma lenses offer,” Gentec explained in a prepared press release.
