Conversion Optimisation Tips | KingPin's SEO Blog

Let’s say by now you are getting a good amount of traffic, you’re seeing the monthly unique visitors increase but your conversion is still low. What can you do to improve your conversion rates? Well here are my top tips for increasing conversion and they are really easy to implement, I would go as far as saying fool-proof!!

Site Credibility - Your sites landing pages can help you bring credibility. Well written content and a well designed site can and has been proved to increase conversion. New users to your site will probably read all the content on the page they land on because they want to know about either the service or product. Users can be very fussy and if they see copy riddled with spelling errors that puts them in a doubtful mindset. Lets face it, if you went to the store to buy a TV and came across a sales assistant that never was not sure about what he was selling, you would be hesitant right? I would be. Well designed sites and well written copy converts visitors into buyers. Fact.

Site Relevance - Web users like nothing more than to see an ad or organic search listing that matches their query exactly. And it’s even better when these same words are visible on the page they click through to. A tight alignment between a user’s query, the search listing, and landing page copy conveys relevance.

In a nutshell, when a user searches and lands on you’re page, make sure it’s exactly what there looking for. This will reduce the bounce rate and again, be more likely to convert.

Calls To Action (CTA) - Only because the user clicks through to your site/page, it dosen’t mean their going to convert right away. You need to give a compelling reason for why they should buy that item/service and encourage them. Although selling online is big business, a lot of people are still weary about buying stuff online.

The Benefits - Give the user some type of benefit, like if they are buying an item of clothing, and give them 10% discount on their next order or free P&P. Or if they are buying a service (lets use SEO as an example), give them a discount if they buy the Link Building package as well. This also can be applied for getting a user to sign up to the newsletter. Give them something to download or get access to the next webinar. These tips are really simple and you’ll be surprised (in a good way) the power of the effects they have.

Reassure Users - As I mentioned earlier people are still weary about buying online the biggest fear I often come across is how safe is the website. If you own an e-commerce site, make sure you put all you’re business badges at the top where people can see them instantly. Meaning if you part of Hacker Safe, BBB or any other organization which protects the consumer then put it somewhere users can see it and a link to you’re privacy policy.

Ask A Compelling Questions - Us humans are curious being by nature, so take advantage of that and ask a question that will provoke a reaction. Maybe something like “Are you paying too much for you’re electricity?” These kinds of questions will entice you’re users to take action and find out the answers.

Test landing pages that include product photos or photos of people. People relate to people, guarantees, testimonials, client case studies, bios, and videos. In general, these items increase conversion rates.

Maximize Response - Test everything! Test the load speed of you’re site, where you place registration forms, how many fields are required. Where to place the form, the images. Yes it can be time consuming but once you have found that perfect place, you will not need to change it again.

Also, test placing the registration form directly on the landing page as well as an internal page. Some users seem to like the streamlined approach. But, others don’t want to be confronted with a form immediately, they want to learn more about you’re product/service or company before they are willing to provide personal contact information.

There are just a few tips that will dramatically improve you’re conversion rates. It really is common sense. Just most people become complacent.
