AGA President Frank Fahrenkopf on the PocketFives Podcast

In the United States, the land-based casino industry is represented and anchored by the American Gaming Association. Based in Washington, D.C., the AGA is the primary legislative and trade organization for the some of the largest casino companies on the face of the Earth as well as major financial institutions. This week, the PocketFives.com Podcast is pleased to welcome American Gaming Association CEO Frank Fahrenkopf to the show. Also, we’ll take a look at the movers and shakers in the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings.

San Jose, Costa Rica, August 13, 2008 -- The American Gaming Association is celebrating its 11th annual Responsible Gaming Education Week. At the top of the food chain at one of the largest trade organizations for commercial casinos in the United States is AGA President and CEO Frank Fahrenkopf. Entering its 14th year of operation, the AGA represents casino goliaths like Harrah’s and Ameristar, while investment firms and payment processors like Bank of America and Deloitte & Touche make up its roster of multi-million dollar corporations. Fahrenkopf joined the PocketFives.com poker podcast this week.

Fahrenkopf comments on a recent bill introduced by Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA) that would tax internet gambling at the federal level and distribute the funds according to a state’s population: “This bill has only recently been introduced. We have not taken a formal position on it yet, although I must say that most of the companies that we work with have opposed federal regulation and taxation of any form of gambling. It’s an intrusion on states’ rights. However, it’s not a uniform position in our industry.”
